Before DH, Before the End

It's 20 minutes to midnight, which tonight is the magic hour that will find all of us Harry Potter fans alive with the excitement of the final installment. Harry's final official story...the end of the series. Leading up to tonight (although I will be receiving my book via Amazon sometime tomorrow), I've been feeling an increasing sense of melancholy. Like most of you, I've been slowly bracing myself for the loss of Harry.
I know that Harry, no matter what, will live on in all of our hearts, and through our friendships and fan fiction and art. But it is still a bittersweet time for fandom, and I am going to miss this anticipation, this desire to know more of Harry. After this book, Deathly Hallows, we'll know everything J.K. Rowling means for us to know about her Harry.
Enough of my rambles: onward! Gacked from
heidi8,
See you all on the other side of Deathly Hallows, my good friends. I hope it's everything you want it to be, and if it isn't, I'm glad we have each other to lean on.
With you whatever happens.

here be the Harry Potter fandom survey.
1. How long have you been in the fandom?
Since summer 2001.
2. Where did you start out in fandom?
After I first read Goblet of Fire, I thought wouldn't it be interesting if there were fanfic written on these characters? I did a Google search and found
ali_wildgoose's Diagon Alley. From there, I found the DT, which was the first fic I ever read.
3. Which fandom pastimes – do you participate in?
(a)analyzing canon for clues - Yes.
(b)participating in debates - Not really on forums, but in RL.
(c)writing fan fiction - I've dabbled, but nothing serious.
(d)reading fan fiction - I used to be a rabid fanfic reader, but not anymore. I miss it, though.
(e)lurking - Frequently.
4. What (if anything) has changed for you in the fandom?
Over time, I grew accustomed to fandom, meaning that it became another part of me like my curly hair or dark eyes. I just "knew" that I was part of a group, part of an amazing entity. That hasn't ever changed. My level of involvement changed, though, as I had less time and opportunity to read fanfiction.
5. Will you still be with us after Saturday – or is it over now that canon is over?
I will be with you. I can't imagine not being with you.
6. Five fandom memories
Staying up all night with my sister reading Draco Dormiens the first time.
Attending Lumos 2006 in Las Vegas with Raph.
Meeting
sharina in NYC in the summer of 2003.
Meeting a bunch of fans at
alissomora's birthday party in summer of 2004.
PoA IMAX in NYC.
7. Who was your first fandom friend?
sharina and I go back to previous fandoms.
*Memes tend to lose questions sometimes*
9. Craziest theory you ever heard.
McGonagall = Evil. And what's this about Regulus possibly not being dead?
10. Your favorite crack!theory.
I don't have a favorite.
