apartment hunting is madness

WEnt to see an apartment today with Raph. Was gone from work for a good 2 hours, during which all hell apparently broke loose in the Budget Office, which is interesting, seeing as all hell also broke loose on the train ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan after the apartment viewing. Sandra had a bit of an anxiety attack regarding the apartment hunt. It was only our first visit to an apartment, but I suddenly got nervous that all the apartments were going to suck as bad as this one did. I guess I just realized that this is going to take much longer than I thought, and I already expected it to take long.

Anyway, the apartment was definitely a no-go. It wasn't horrible, but not the best. The bathroom was a cubicle, with a shorter and narrower tub than is standard. The kitchen was spacious and well-lit with 2 big windows, but the refrigerator was shorter than me, and the dishwasher and stove were super narrow. I plan to cook on the stove and in the oven, so that would be a problem. The floors were uneven. There would be no light in the living room but lamps, as there are no windows there. I mean, all of those things are nitpicky and would be acceptable, except that this place was in the high end of my price range, and for that amount of money I would prefer to get a nicer place. So, that's that.

Looking forward to Saturday. Interestingly, Raph's father just did an estimate for someone who wants a paint job about 2 blocks from the place we're going to see on Saturday. :)
