a lost fandom
Jan. 29th, 2004 03:40 pmYou know what I miss? The Backstreet Boys. It was so much fun, when they were around. I mean REALLY around, not just randomly showing up at an awards show or at some celebrity charity event. I miss the music, the hype, the concerts. Especially the concerts. I thought about them a bit yesterday, as it was Nicky's birthday. It's been almost a year since I saw him in concert at the Vanderbilt in Plainview, NY. Before that, it had been over a year since the last time I saw the Boys perform as a unit, on Sept. 10, 2001.
I miss them. They made me happy all the time, when I was going through the hardest times in college. When I was frustrated with my family, when I was having trouble with my roommates. I'd pop on the cd, listen to their voices, and although not all was magically right with the world, I felt right with the world. Better, at least.
I wish they'd come back to us, together, unified, healthy, sober (Alex), and showcasing the talent I know they have. I want to hear their voices blend again, the way they used to, but better, even more solid. They owe Jive 3 more albums anyway, and at the rate they're going, they can't afford to buy themselves out of that contract...so they might as well come on back to their loyal fans who still miss and love them.
So, who among you has a Backstreet story to tell? Links to share? Does anyone miss them as much as I do?
