Sep. 6th, 2004 05:01 pmHave had lovely weekend despite worrying about Sari enduring hurricane Frances by herself in Tampa. I didn't hear that anything much happened there except for heavy rains and winds, but I think by the time it got there it was down to tropical storm status. Her parents live in West Palm Beach, though, so I know she's been pretty worried.
In other news, Raph was able to borrow The Bourne Identity from Mike D. so I finally saw it on Friday night. It was really good! The first time I tried to watch it was last year on the cruise ship, where the swaying of the ship plus the fast-moving fight scenes left me too nauseous to watch the movie past the first 15 minutes. Now want to see Supremacy, but must find theater in which it is still playing.
On Saturday, Raph and I drove up to the outlets at Woodbury Commons. R bought a ton of clothes while I bought a couple of new pairs of pants and shirts. We then went to my parents' house where I did my laundry (a relief, as I hate laundromats!) and got to see my aunts Nelly and Elsa and my twin cousins/flower girls Karina and Vanesa. I also ate a banana royale, which
spell_cast drove me to get in my father's hot pimp ride. LOL.
Sunday was Diane & Eddie's engagement party in Little Neck. Was much fancier than we thought and Raph was only man not wearing suit jacket, though all other elements, including tie, were there. He looked snazzy, but the damn suit jacket was missing. OY. But the food was yummy and we got to see Adam and Ericka, with whom Raph and I went to the movies later that night. We saw Jet Li's Hero, which was amazing! Along the lines of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but different storyline.
Today Raph went off to play football and tennis with his friends, while I met up with Jessica at the Tea Lounge on 7th Ave to get some stuff done for Meredith's bridal shower. The wedding is 2 months from today, which is crazy! I can't wait for the wedding, so that Meredith can stop stressing and be married already.
In the please send your prayers dept., I would like to mention that one of my best friends' cousins is in a coma, following a bad car accident she was in last week that killed her best friend and injured 2 others. These kids were all 16 years old, and although her cousin is responsive to family and doctors when they speak to her, she is unable to breathe on her own.
I also just found out from my mom that my Uncle Jimmy took a bad fall down the stairs today in his home. He is ok and out of the hospital, but he fractured the bridge of his nose and was held for several hours at the hospital because of low blood pressure. He's in a lot of pain right now and I'm worried about his blood pressure. :(
Hope everyone in Florida and those with family/friends in Florida are doing all right. And let's cross our fingers that Hurrican Ivan loses intensity and does not hit the Dominican Republic (where I have lots of family) before ravaging the hell out of Florida...again. I don't think the folks down there can take a third natural disaster at the moment; they've got quite enough to be getting on with.
