This morning I had to go get my blood drawn for a cholesterol test. I have high cholesterol, especially for someone my age of average height and healthy weight. Well, almost healthy weight. I could do with about 5-10 fewer pounds. Anyway, since I know I haven't been exercising, I know my results are going to come back saying my cholesterol has not changed, or has increased. I'm trying to prepare myself to hear that. Ugh. I'm trying not to eat foods that would affect my cholesterol level adversely, so today I had a salad for lunch. Now I know that many people do this. They eat salad, with lettuce, grape tomoatoes, shredded carrot, chick peas, bean sprouts, and red cabbage. They use small amounts of vinaigrette to moisten this collection of plants-turned-meal. They wash it all down with bottles of water.

They must all be crazy!

How can anyone eat a salad and be satisfied? How do people keep from tearing their hair out and snipping crossly and irrationally at everyone they come in contact with? How do people maintain sanity, and a decent blood sugar level, when all they are putting in their bodies is shrubbery?

And I feel like this is the way I'll have to eat for the rest of my life if I don't want to give myself heart disease at an early age. No 23 year old woman should have a total cholesterol level of 259! I feel like I can't enjoy any food because it'll either pack pounds on me or clog my arteries to the point of no return. And it's starting now, before I'm even 30 years old! My father had a cholesterol level of 259 as well, when he was 47 years old! And he's allowed to take Lipitor!!!
