Half-Blood Prince, 1
Jul. 12th, 2005 12:53 pmI have refrained from giving any of my predictions, suspicions, etc. here thus far, but I will make some now. I always want to talk about the things I am most afraid of, brought on by
slytherincess's post but I almost don't want to think about it. Am I too emotionally invested in Harry Potter? Is there such a thing? LOL.
This is what I wrote in response to
slytherincess's question: What are your canon boggarts?
I'm psyched about new canon, but there's always the fear that things will just be "wrong," just not the way I pictured them. I'm terrified of a trio death, although I don't really see it happening until book 7. I also would be miffed if we didn't see more development of Draco, because he has SUCH potential to be kick-ass, be it as a villain or not. To date, he's been more of a whiney brat, and I think he can be so much more than that.
Grawp...just...GAH. Put us out of our misery, or else explain why we had to read about him for so long in OotP.
No one has mentioned Sirius at all here, but I am afraid we won't learn more about his veil incident. Truly dead, sure, but HOW? WHY? Especially WHY????
What else? I agree with many of the others who said things like they'd like to see a strong female character. I didn't even realize it, but that is a serious lack. I am afraid of some of Molly Weasley's boggarts turning out to be real. I want tons more info on the Dept. of Mysteries, and I am putting a lot of faith in JKR not to let us down in that area.
I am not even thinking of ships at this point. Whatever happens, happens, and we have fandom to ease any disappointments.
Really, my biggest fear is that Ron will die. I've already said to some people IRL that I will publicly burn my book if that happens. A tad dramatic, but it's that serious!
I am sure I have more to say, and that will come later, in other Half-Blood Prince installments.

Date: 2005-07-12 05:35 pm (UTC)Oh my gosh, me too. I think that's my worst one, but you echoed a lot of other sentiments I feel as well. It's creeping me out - I need this new HBP now!

Date: 2005-07-12 06:43 pm (UTC)I know that JKR has said that killing Sirius was necessary in order to really introduce Harry to the arbitrary and too-possible business of death, particularly in this war he is about to begin fighting. But do you think she'd dare to take Ron away from Harry, too? :(

Date: 2005-07-12 07:36 pm (UTC)However, maybe she's satisfied with Mr. Weasley's near miss enough to keep away from the family in general.
Ron would be a character I would miss terribly, as well as the Weasley twins. Oh dear. :(
